What do you think AI (Artificial Intelligence) and Robotics is?
-
How do you feel about the progression of AI and how we now have robots that can interact with us?
-
Would you ever have a robot or AI assistant (like Alexa and Google home) in your home?
-
Do you think you would feel more comfortable with an AI robot that looks like a human or a robot that looks like a machine?
-
Would you ever trust a robot?

Could you imagine becoming emotionally attached to a robot?

What do you think of people falling in love with robots?
-
How do you think AI and robotics could help us in the future?

Computers and technology that is supposed to be beneficial to us
-
I feel uncomfortable about how fast it has progressed
-
No- I don't want targeted sales and all my searches saved
-
It needs to look like a machine - the human look is horrific
-
NEVER
-
God no

I mean if that suits them, then that’s fine, however, I struggle to understand it!!
-
I’m not sure how much robotics can help us more than they do right now!!

A robot that can understand what your saying and can operate from your voice
-
I feel fine about it, I think they would be helpful
-
yes

like a machine

Yes

No

That’s very strange haha

With day to day things like remembering stuff and organising out lives

It is sad because of the decreasing human interaction and social skills

Personally no

Robot that looks like a machine
-
No
-
Absolutely not (lol)
-
Personally, I find it very strange as I don't feel a robot has real emotions - all mechanically made
-
aghh I have no idea

I think that AI is the combination of human intelligence with technology and machinery. I think that Robotics is machinery that is designed and engineered by humans to do certain tasks and abilities to aid a futuristic human life.
-
I think the progression of AI is a good thing. The generations of today are wanting a hyper-technical world and it is so on-demand. Having robots has pros and cons, but in my opinion, the pros far outweigh the cons. We interact now with humans. I walk down the street asking Siri on my phone “how do I get to (a location)” and this is the norm. This is something that is only going to develop further. This kind of interaction makes an easier life for us.
-
I would definitely have a robot or AI device in my home. For example when I’m getting ready to go out and am putting my makeup on I always have to put everything down to change the music or look up a train time etc. Having a device like this which is voice enabled control would make my life easier.
-
I would prefer a device that looks like a machine. I don’t want machines to ‘replace’ humans in that sense. I just want a device that is there to help us not be in any form a resemblance of a human.
-
I like to think of a robot as an assistant but not life. Therefore I would trust a robot in the same sense I trust my laptop with all my bank details and private information. The only chance I have in losing that is a human performing a hack. I think of a robot in this same way. I would only not trust the humans who could potentially do this to a robot.
-
No. I wouldn’t think of it as alive. I will always be adamant that a machine is a machine no matter how far this develops in to a human-like form.
-
I find it very odd. But I also understand people in the world have their own issues. For example, if somebody was very lonely and only had that robot as interaction daily you may start to develop feelings. I don’t believe they are real feelings, but instead confusion and more an underlying issue that is temporarily being solved by the robot.
-
I would hope that in the future AI and robotics would be used to help the world in a positive way by solving problems such as a disease that human intelligence can't yet do. I hope that it isn’t ever used in a negative way. For example in war or to cause harm to others. At this current time, there is more and more awareness towards robotics and the future which encourages me to want to look further into these things. If the chance came up - for example, an exhibition or event on this I would want to attend and learn more.

Machines designed to move and/ or think like humans. The use of programming that permits the machine to `learn’ from data collected.
-
Like many things, this technology offers great potential benefits to society but should be treated with respect and a degree of caution
-
yes

I would prefer it to look like a machine

I think that the most interesting developments will be in areas we haven't even thought of yet and I am keen to know more

Technology that is able to understand human functions and interact with humans?
-
I personally feel that it isn't needed and is taking technology too far, however, I can see why people would find it exciting and useful
-
No, I don't think I would ever have a use for one.
-
A robot that looks like a machine as I find robots that look like humans unnerving.

No

I find it weird and unnatural

I think they could help with medical practices

I wouldn't want to no

no
-
I don't understand it

Perhaps they can do things for us and help look after people, those that are alone.I know its inevitable but I'm not looking forward to it, there are so many complications with robotics and I think I would still rather interact and trust humans!

I think artificial intelligence is the thinking process of a non-human device, which is also how I would describe a robot. Which are now also figures to fulfil personal needs and satisfaction?
-
Personally, I find the idea slightly creepy and hope they do not take over, otherwise, what's the point in us going to work if they can do it for us (likely for nothing, so where would that leave us?)
-
No, because I am perfectly capable of researching/doing things for myself. This is just to help humans become lazier.
-
Definitely not a robot that looks like a human. I suppose a machine is slightly more traditional.
-
No
-
Definitely not
-
It's quite sad and if we weren't so reliant on apps, such as: Tinder and Huggle to hook up, our generation (millennial's) would be less lonely, depressed and more likely to meet people.
-
Childcare maybe? If some people were to trust it or not. It would be interesting to see how this develops over time

AI is dealing with computer science and developing computer programs, whereas, Robotics is about developing robots.
-
I think the progression of AI is very useful in helping the less abled and has become very advanced in recent years. However, it may be very complicated to use and understand and is also very expensive to use. I find it very unsettling we now have robots that can interact with us, I believe the digital age has gone too far in the 21st century with too much focus on technology rather than more important things.
-
I would never have a robot in my home I would feel very uncomfortable and unsafe. I would consider using AL assistant in my home if it would come to good use however the price is very off-putting.
-
No, I would not. I think technology has gone too far and robots is not a good idea.
-
No
-
No, absolutely not
-
I do not understand it at all. Robot to not have emotions and any attractive features that people can be attracted to. These people must be mentally unstable to fall in love with a mechanical object and should seek help.
-
I think robots should be deleted. However, AI is a computer voice that can help the elderly or less abled people in feeling comfortable in their home, seeking help when needed if in a difficult situation.

1. A type of machinery that LEARNS information depending on how much you give it through a series of algorithms
2. I feel like AI is an inevitable progression in technology that should be approached with caution but not to be scared of
3. My sister has Alexa and it's fun and helpful but no more than your phone in my opinion, so probably not
4. I think an AI that looks like a machine. I think I would get too attached to a human looking AI
5. I already do. I consider my phone a robot and I trust that all my information is safe.
6. It's definitely possible. My phone is already glued to my hand
7. I watched a show last night about the development of sexbots and a man said he loved his bot more than his wife. I guess when a bot is made to your idea of perfection falling in love is highly likely. But it makes me sad for the human people who may be neglected.
8. I think in terms of science and medication and things like it would make a great improvement because machines are way more precise than humans
