Cultural Archives
Further to my Concept Development based on the narrowing divide between human and machine and how technology is affecting economic sectors, I started to focus on how technology was particularly affecting the art and culture sector. Cultural Archives are spaces that preserve and display human identity and history, our achievements and creations. Cultural Archives are fundamental in our society and they ensure and encourage the understanding and appreciation of different cultures, history and art. They are educational and community-led hubs that will pass on important and crucial information to future generations.
Through extensive research on how technology affects different economic sectors and our culture, I came across numerous trend reports, articles and talks that suggested that the art and culture sector is dramatically going to change in the future due to the advancement of technology. For my Final Major Project, I wanted to explore this prediction further. My project focuses specifically on museums, exhibition spaces and galleries and how they might develop alongside future technologies to enhance the visitor experience and the collections and displays both online and offline.
